The Cheeseboard Collective consists of two worker-owned shops situated next door to each other on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley. They are just as well known for their pizza sold at 1512 Shattuck as they are for the cheese that carries their name and is sold next door at 1504 Shattuck.
Cheeseboard opens at 7am for coffee, tea and pastries. The smell of brewing coffees and freshly baked breads is overwhelming and adds to the already comfy atmosphere that is continents away from the mechanical feel of a corporate franchise.
The flavor at Cheeseboard (1512) changes every day, but always includes a wide assortment of quality ingredients with fresh herbs, cheese and vegetables. A live feed of today’s pizza flavor is located in the black window below.
Cheeseboard (1504) also bakes a different spread of breads and pastries daily. The assortment includes items such as pumpernickel bagels, Ciabatta, Kaiser rolls, pita, bread sticks, sweet baguettes, and even chocolate cake (better come early).
